David Nel·lo (Barcelona, 1959) is a writer and flute player.
He specializes in books for children and young adults, but he has also published novels for adults such as La geografia de les veus, Premi Andròmina de Narrativa (2006), El meu cor cap a tu per sempre, Premi Marian Vayreda (2009), or Setembre a Perugia, awarded with the Premi Roc Boronat 2011. Among his many children’s books, special mention can be made to L’Albert i els menjabrossa, Premi Vaixell de Vapor (1994), El restaurant de l’Adrià Potato and Ludwig i Frank, Premi Josep M. Folch i Torres (2010). And, among his books for young adults, L’aposta, Premi Columna Jove (2002), Babushka, Contrajoc, Premi Ciutat d’Olot (2007), Guguengol, Premi Ramon Muntaner (2009) or Missió futur. In 2014 won the Premi Edebé with La nueva vida del señor Rutin, a funny book for children and a year later Quim, el nen que no volia ser res was published by Arcàdia.
La tribu dels Zippoli, an homage to the adventure of reading, is his most successful and international YA novel, with 7 translations so far!
His works Melissa & Nicole and La segona vida del Marc were awarded with the 50th Prudenci Bertrana Prize and the 28th Gran Angular Award, respectively. Now, more recently, his talent has been recognized again with the 60th Sant Jordi Award for Betrayed Friendships and with the Edebé Infantil Award for The Chronicle of Ivo Kroach.
