Eli, Elisabeth, is a young girl who lives alone with her mother. Her father disappeared right after Eli’s mother got pregnant. Eli leads a normal life, has a boyfriend, Guillermo, and a couple of good girlfriends, especially Africa her best classmate. One day, she and Guillermo go too far and they don’t take any precautions. The consequences are inevitable: she gets pregnant. Life is a circle and it repeats again and again. She’s like her mother: can anyone avoid it’s own destiny?
David Nel·lo, with his first-person narration, gets to enter in the head of a teenager who’s life changes completely. Written in a direct and informal style, girls readers will easily understand and identify theirselves with the protagonist.
An excellent story that moves away from any kind of judgment but that tells us a story that any young girl can live one day.
