Symbol similar to a little star used in written texts to draw the reader's attention

Josep Lluís Badal, (Ripollet del Vallès, 1966). Writer and teacher. Degree in Catalan Philology, he is a professor of Catalan Language and Literature. In his literary work he combines children's literature with poetry, adult narrative and essay.

Among his work for the smallest stand out Els llibres d’A, translated into several languages; the Jan Plata series awarded with Folch i Torres Award (2012) or Hopi another successful series of his. Other books such as El pirata Gorgo or L'orquestra Ursina have also got an excellent reception among readers. He has written stories for adults, La casa sense ombra and Mestres or the novels El duel and Xirp (2022), a luminous, raw, captivating and poetic story. In 2002 with O pedra he demonstrated a singular poetic voice that continued with (blanc) or Cants materials among many other titles, the latest of which is El món més senzill (2023). He has published critical texts in specialized magazines.

In 2018 he won the 52nd Critics Award Serra d'Or for the best novel 2017 for Les coses que realment han vist aquests ulls inexistents.

His latest works for children and young readers are Googol (2021), an initiatory journey translated into different languages, La branca més alta de la melancolia (2022) and Bergold (2023), an excellent way to introduce Bach's masterpiece, the Goldberg Variations, to children. The three works have been published in animallibres, the first two with illustrations by Zuzanna Celej and the last with those by Pep Montserrat.
