Oriol Comas i Coma (Barcelona, 1956) is considered one of the greatest European experts and educational about the history of board games. He is the author of more than fifty board and street games. He made the adaptation to Catalan of
Scrabble and its Official Dictionary with the linguist Lluís de Yzaguirre. Among his playful creations,
Verbàlia and
Enigmàrius stand out, with Màrius Serra,
Gaudí and
Ágora Barcelona with Jep Ferret,
El joc del món,
Dragons or
Victus. He is also the author of the online game-contest
Què llegeixes? (since 2005) with Ferret and Carlota Torrents commissioned by the ILC.
He was responsible for the field of gaming at the Fòrum Universal de les Cultures (Barcelona, 2004) and has been the founder and director of the gaming fair jugarXjugar (Granollers) and the great Festival Dau Barcelona, since its creation in 2012.
He has published the books
El món en jocs and
Quince juegos que cambiaron el mundo. Un monde de jeux, published by the French publisher Ynnis, is his last book.
Oriol Comas in recent years has become a real fictional character in Màrius Serra's series of playful-crime novels.
