The fraudulent purchase of land unleashes the conflict between two families: the Torrus, owners of a predatory real estate in Barcelona, and the Súbac, Mallorcan businessmen linked to tourism, real caciques accustomed to taking what they want and who also covet to participate in the awarding. The Torrus, however, are reluctant to give in, especially if they can assert the countless dirty rags of the Súbac family, including an unsolved murder twenty years ago.
Between Fargo and Faulkner, Tots els mecanismes is a novel of children and parents, of changing loyalties, of failures, horses and boxers; a visceral tragedy with a touch of black comedy that progresses sustained by multiple voices and all kinds of narrative materials in the service of a search — perhaps chimerical — for personal and collective truth.
