Adult life has separated the attractive Palas from her younger stepbrother Héctor, who lives in London. However, a family matter brings them together again and will oblige them to recall why they seem condemned to be either totally separated or completely united because, for them, there is no way of being able to keep a prudent distance.
Jo Alexander breathes life into these two characters who are driven by an inconceivable, enthralling passion which, as in classical tragedy, seems to defy the implacable gods. But will it be possible to triumph over the divinities, in the modern world?
"Alexander knows how to construct her stories with amazing details.”
Jordi Llavina, El Mundo“The core theme is incest. It is a consensual relationship, sensuously and beautifully described without ever tipping over into tawdriness.”
Lluís Llort, El Punt Avui“Elegant, gorgeous prose confronts the “ugliness” and murkiness of the matters addressed. Palas y Héctor is a perfect demonstration of how a short book with few characters can move us, make us think, and challenge our ideas and ourselves. Jo Alexander, a unique author, knows a great deal about good literature.”
